In 2010, Old Spice needed to reach a new audience, so they cast former NFL player Isaiah Mustafa as a smooth-talking, shirtless pitchman who rattled off increasingly absurd claims — all in astonishing single takes with no visible cuts. "The Man Your Man Could Smell Like" became an instant sensation, and the brand followed it up by having Mustafa film hundreds of personalized video responses to fans and celebrities in real time, essentially inventing a new genre of interactive advertising.
