Whoever's playing Professor X — the moral center of the team, and the casting that has to nail both quiet authority and real vulnerability for the whole ensemble to click.
Mr. Sinister — a proper geneticist-villain who's been teased for years but never gotten a real live-action showcase. If they nail the menace here, it sets up the whole franchise's antagonist arc.
Emma Frost — she has to sell both the ice-diamond mutant powers and the sharp telepath/socialite personality at once, which is a tough tonal needle to thread on screen.
Jean Grey — arguably the highest-stakes role of all, since any hint of a future Phoenix/Dark Phoenix arc means this actor needs range that goes from restrained to cosmic-level intense.
