Assessments from organizations such as the World Bank, the International Crisis Group, and the Bertelsmann Transformation Index (BTI) indicate that while the Taliban administration has achieved relative internal security and modest domestic revenue collection, overall government effectiveness remains severely limited. Policies prioritizing heavy security spending alongside severe restrictions on female education and employment have badly eroded human capital and suppressed long-term economic growth. Consequently, the country continues to face deep economic isolation, widespread poverty, and a persistent humanitarian crisis, keeping it ranked among the least effective governing regimes globally.
